Kitchen Hack: Steaming Broccoli/Veggies 1

I love food don’t get me wrong, but I like to be in the kitchen as little as possible. I just don’t have the patience to cook for hours on end. Plus, more cooking = more dishes. Yeah, no thanks!

And I LOVE broccoli. 🙂 But hate when you’re making it and it gets over cooked. Yuck.

Using this trick you can steam broccoli or whatever veggies (although I have only done this with broccoli so I cannot testify for how well this method works with other veggies) to perfection in just a couple minutes using ZERO dishes/pots/pans! Play around with the timing slightly to get the broccoli to your desired level of cooked. I like mine pretty cooked but still with a tiny crunch.

All you need is a gallon ziplock bag and a microwave. Cut your broccoli into pieces and put into the gallon ziplock. Using a knife, poke a few holes in the front and back. I usually do 3 holes on one side and one or two on the other.

Place the bag in the microwave with the side that has more holes facing up. Cook for about 3 minutes on high. And ta-da! You have perfectly cooked broccoli. Careful taking it out of the microwave, it will be hot!.I always put a little butter and salt and pepper in the bag and shake it up before I take it out of the bag.
